Hi, I am a teacher at Tamarack Elementary School. I am also a leader with the Boy Scouts. During the school year I am active for at least 30 minutes before, during and after school, and a rarely sit down while I am teaching. This keeps me feeling good. At least one weekend each month I also go camping with the scouts. This past weekend I traveled with them to Death Valley National Park. On all of our hikes I never felt out of breath. I know that this is because I am staying physically active.

I've been over weight growing up and I could never find the courage to go and run in public, or even work out in gym class at my school; this program gave me a place to work out with people who do not know me, making me feel more comfortable, until i really was conformable with other people. I'm still a little chubby, but I know there is hope and I will fight until I am happy with my self!

I'm not an unhealthy person food-wise, but I never really exercised much until the Governor's Challenge encouraged me to start doing so. Now I exercise much more and I feel a lot healthier- Thanks! =)

I discovered an amazing way to get some cardio exercise without having to leave your home. All you need is a house with stairs and you have your own gym right there! I will start off with running up and down the stairs 20 times. Then I cool down with some leg exercises at the base of the stairs. You can do so many things with stairs it's crazy! Pulling yourself up the staris with your arms is a very good arm strengthening routine. Be creative; it's spectacular what you can think up when you have the energy to.
