I am very pleased with the Governors Challenge. As a Elementary School PE teacher I am on my feet all day and pretty active already. Usually when I get home I just want to relax. Well the Governors Challenge has pushed me to get out and be active after work. It was really not very difficult for me to complete. I just did the things I enjoy doing and logged it. I am recommending my friends to try as well. I am hoping to get as many people involved as possible. I hope that it become contagious and not only my students, but parents, and teacher become involved.

When I started out I was a bit sceptical. I wanted to try my hardest to show the kids even adults could be more active. Since I started there has been very few days I wasn't active. I have been lifting weights and doing arobic activity and even swiming. When I started I could barely run a lap or two around the gym, but not I am able to run 15 laps with out taking a walk break. That is a huge accomplishment in my book, along with the 15 lbs I have lost and a total of 4inches... WOW what a little extra moving can really do...

I am physically handicapped and in the past found it very difficult to keep up with a regular routine of physical exercise. However, due to the Governor's challenge I have more of an incentive. I have found that I can walk and do certain exercises 15 mins. in the morning and 15-20 mins. in the evening. This has already caused me to lose 10 lbs. It might not seem like a lot, but to one who is grossly overweight because of pain and limited activity it is a very good feeling. I look at this as only a start.

I work out regularly anyway, but I thought it was a great way to support my school. I teach sixth grade math and science. I spoke to my students about the importance of exercise and nutrition and told them that I work out five days a week. Last year, I got into triathlon (sprint distance) and so I've really stepped up my running and cycling (and swimming when I'm training for a specific event).
