The Governor's Challenge was more of an experience than a challenge. It inspired me to be active everyday with the notion that I, and only I, could beat the Governor's Challenge. It was real simple, just do things that will keep you up and moving for at least three days a week for up to an hour-simple right? Of course, I was able to do things that I liked and remain fit and healthy. On weekends I occasionally went swimming, on school days I would play basketball, soccer, or just go jogging or walking around my neighborhood. I could go with members of my family or with my friends, I guess you could say they completed the Challenge as well! While being with people I was familiar and comfortable being with and doing physical activities, it made it kinda fun. Swimming with my brother, shooting hoops with my close friends, and many other activities made it fun and healthy. The Challenge wasn't really a challenge, but merely just a wake up call to students in California to get up, be, and stay active. It worked for me if not some. Over the past month I lost around 3 pounds from continous excercise and felt better! True, the spirit of competition to complete the Challenge got to me and everyday I would try and do some physical activity just so that I could have a little extra excercise for the day. From now on I will maintain this routine of four days a week for around 45 minutes. I may not not like the Governor, but the challenge he put forth was truly a great one!

I've been over weight growing up and I could never find the courage to go and run in public, or even work out in gym class at my school; this program gave me a place to work out with people who do not know me, making me feel more comfortable, until i really was conformable with other people. I'm still a little chubby, but I know there is hope and I will fight until I am happy with my self!
