What are the Live Positively Awards?
Thanks to a donation from The Coca-Cola Company’s Live Positively Initiative, the Council will be awarding three Live Positively Fitness Centers to California schools participating in the 2011 Governor’s Fitness Challenge. Each Life Positively Fitness Center will have a retail value of $100,000. Awards pay for design, delivery, and installation of brand new, age-appropriate fitness equipment it does not pay for the building itself).
How do schools become eligible to win a Live Positively Fitness Center?
Governor’s Challenge Finalist Schools will be invited to submit essays describing what they have done to help their students “live positively” by promoting physical activity during the month of May.

Where will Live Positively Fitness Center winners come from?
One Northern California, one Central California, and one Southern California school will be selected to receive a Live Positively Fitness Center award. The regional breakdowns are as follows:
When will the Live Positively essay be due?
The Governor’s Council will work with principals of leading schools to verify the results of the 2011 Governor’s Challenge during the first week of June. After finalists are chosen, they will have until the end of day June 9, 2011, to submit their essays.
When will the winners be announced?
We will announce the winners of the Live Positively Awards in September along with the other winners of our 2011 Governor’s Challenge and Spotlight Awards.
