About the Council The Governor’s Council on
Physical Fitness and Sports is a non-profit, non-partisan organization
dedicated to establishing California as the nation’s “fitness state”
by promoting physical activity for all Californians, especially children
and youth. Research has shone that regular physical activity in
childhood and adolescence helps build healthier bones and muscles, increases
self-esteem and reduces the risk of diseases such as type-2 diabetes
and obesity. Governor Schwarzenegger is our Honorary Chairman. The Council
is lead by: Chairman Jake Steinfeld, founder of Body by Jake, Major
League Lacrosse, and ExerciseTV; Board Chairman Austin Beutner and Executive
Director Kenny Rogers.
