GOLD MEDALIST

The San Diego Union-Tribune has been selected as the Gold Medalist for the Council's 2007 Company of the Year category for its involvement in bringing together kids, families and schools to live a healthy and active lifestyle. The San Diego Union-Tribune coordinated the Kids Magic Mile event which had 5,000 children participants in 2007. The Tribune has inspired families to run or walk on a regular basis in preparation for the event, and has inspired hundreds of school teachers who to implement a running program for their students. The San Diego Union-Tribune also assists in funding entry fees and buses for schools of low-income areas.

Kids Fitness Challenge - Rose Bowl
SILVER MEDALIST The Kids Fitness Challenge event was held January 27th, 2007 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. The event engaged 10,000 participants from 230 schools and five counties in physical activity.
