Brian Nassif
Albert Einstein Academies

SILVER MEDALIST

Coach Brian Nassif is hard-working, resourceful, and creative in bringing activity, exercise, and healthy habits to our campus. He coordinates the LIFE program for grades K-8. He leads the LIFE adventure program which is designed for “at risk” students. It keeps them off the streets and exposes them to activities like yoga, surfing, and rock-climbing. One student recently commented, “Now this is what life is supposed to be like – there's so much out there to do and see!” The success of this program is a testament to Brian’s belief that troubled students can shine when given opportunities to boost confidence through fitness. Brian makes sure that students with financial hardships can still participate.

Brian also started morning / weekend running clubs for Albert Einstein Academies. Students run laps before school and collect sticks for each lap. When a student earns 100 sticks, they can trade them for a foot pendant. Students proudly wear their necklaces displaying their collection of colorful feet. At the end of the term, Coach personally rewards the top elementary school runners, both male and female, from each grade. Brian also implemented Family Fitness running for our AEA school community. These coached and structured weekend workouts encourage parents / children to train together at local beaches & parks.

Brian contributes to AEA in countless other ways. He has been instrumental in bringing a fully equipped fitness center to AEA by soliciting grant support. Brian also created/coaches an after school sport team program. In addition, he has made it a priority to receive standards-based, collaborative professional development in San Diego / California. He’s been instrumental in establishing our school’s wellness policy and grass field. He’s also inspired our students to make healthy choices. He’s created cooperative PE time with the middle school students teaching elementary students. He’s engaged students through his boundless energy, good spirit, and interest in their well-being. AEA is fortunate to have such a dedicated PE coach that regularly changes our students’ lives for the better.
